 Thesis Competition 2010
         
As part of ISACA London Chapter’s ongoing commitment to promoting Academic Research we are offering an annual prize for the best fully accredited thesis/dissertation submitted during the period 1st May 2009 – 31st October 2010. You or your supervisor must be an member of Isaca.

Cash Prize
• A first prize of £1 000 for the best thesis/dissertation
• A further £1 000 will be available for further prizes (for good runners-up at ISACA’s discretion)

Additional opportunities 
• Opportunity to present at a London ISACA chapter meeting
• Article to be published and highlighted on the London ISACA website
• Submit to ISACA journal for consideration

Timelines 
• 31 October submission deadline each year
• Announcement of winner – January 2011

Assessment criteria
• Clearly map to an ISACA ‘tower’ (i.e. IT Security, Risk, Audit or Governance)
• Usefulness to ISACA membership – some illustrative examples:
  o Frameworks, practical implementation/review approaches
  o Empirical findings related to the above or a ‘tower’
  o New risks/threats/issues related to a ‘tower’
  o Control/solution effectiveness/usage      
  o Maturity/compliance levels             
  o Risk/incident impact assessment/quantification

Other requirements 
• Limited to the best 3 submissions from each university (as identified by them)
• Submission to include a short article for publication
• ISACA member or sponsorship by an ISACA Academic Advocate

ISACA Certifications

CISA
The Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is the globally accepted standard of achievement among information systems (IS) audit, control and security professionals.
CISM
The Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification program is for experienced information security managers and those who have information security management responsibilities.
CGEIT
ISACA and the ITGI together offer a certification for professionals charged with satisfying the IT governance needs of an enterprise, the Certified in the Goveranance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) Certifcation.
CRISC

Academic Courses

MSc in Information Systems
This course should be of interest to professionals considering either a career change to information systems or who wish to acquire IT skills in order to augment existing professional expertise. The course may also interest recent graduates in disciplines other than computing who wish to develop specialist skills and enter a career in information systems.
